Jonathan Purle, who was elected to Wymondham Town Council earlier this month, was accused of being "challenging to work with" by councillors despite having yet to attend a meeting.

He was targeted on social media by Suzanne Nuri-Nixon, who was until recently chairman of the council, after informing his Facebook followers he had reported concerns about a traveller site to the relevant authorities.

Mrs Nuri-Nixon, who sits on both Wymondham Town Council and South Norfolk Council, accused Mr Purle of "claiming the win" for resolving the situation at Kett's Park.

Mr Purle was elected with a huge majority following the by-election earlier this month, receiving 638 votes, comfortably ahead of the Green candidate, in second place with 274.

Despite having met some of his new colleagues during election night, Mr Purle has not been properly introduced and there have been no council meetings since he joined.

The authority is mostly made up........
