Cancer patient killed by chemotherapy side effect linked with blood-thinners

Linda Cremin passed away at the age of 60, just days after starting a course of chemotherapy to treat stomach cancer.

She had been diagnosed with a stage three cancer in December last year, beginning her treatment in February.

But she soon began experiencing severe headaches, which persisted for four days before she was admitted to the James Paget University Hospital on February 19. She died the same day.

An inquest into her death heard that the headaches she was suffering were due to a spontaneous subdural haematoma - a bleed on the brain - which had developed during her chemotherapy.

And the court heard the most likely cause of this was a side effect of chemotherapy being carried out concurrently with warfarin - a strong........
