Villagers fight to save 'landmark' trees as felling bid goes to council
The saga in Scratby has seen neighbours accusing a homeowner's survey of being biased and pointing out a conflicting report commissioned by council planners.
John Critoph, of Abels Court on Beach Road in Scratby, has applied to Great Yarmouth Borough Council to fell six of 17 Lombardy poplars protected under a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) after one tree collapsed onto his home causing significant roofing damage.
A survey by arboricultural consultant Ian Flatters of Target Trees Ltd found the trees to be in serious decline, with ten given a life........
