Shepherdess gears up for a hectic first lambing season at historic Norfolk estate
Hannah Murrell is expecting up to 300 rare and native-breed lambs to be born in the next few weeks at the Gawdy Hall Estate, near Harleston.
The 24-year-old, who joined the estate in October, looks after a 400-strong flock with the help of her "lovable" three-year-old sheepdog Roo.
Sheep breeds including Llanwenog, Lleyn and Norfolk Horn were introduced after Gawdy Hall was bought by the Courteenhall estate in Northamptonshire in 2022.
The flock is reared outside on grass and herbal leys in the 16th-century estate’s parkland, and graze cover crops such as radish grown during the winter months.
