Massive £3.2m vintage machine sale is biggest in auction firm’s 200-year history
Rare and valuable farm machines, steam engines and automobiles went under the hammer at Cheffins' saleground at Sutton, near Ely, on April 25 and 26.
The top price was paid for a 1928 Foden D Type timber tractor steam waggon, which sold for £305,520 - well over its pre-sale estimate of £230,000-£250,000.
This was followed by a 1928 Sentinel "Super" steam waggon, which fetched £123,280.
