Edible flowers and socially-conscious beer feature at Norfolk food and drink show
Local Flavours 2025 featured more than 100 of the region's food and drink producers at the Norfolk Showground on Wednesday.
And they had the chance to showcase their produce to buyers from across the UK and Europe, representing the tourism, hospitality, catering and food retail sectors.
The Local Flavours 2025 food and drink trade show at the Norfolk Showground (Image: Denise Bradley) First-time exhibitors this year included Nurtured in Norfolk, which grows and supplies edible flowers and micro herbs for many of the UK’s top chefs, restaurants and wholesalers.
The company, based in Toftwood, near Dereham, was founded in 2009 when chefs Allan Miller and Sue Drane started growing their own micro cress on a window sill.
Recognising a growing demand for intensely flavourful and colourful garnishes, the business expanded and now supplies 495 product lines including bunched herbs, micro-herbs, dried and pressed edible flowers, herb oils, and dehydrated fruit.
Operations manager Alex Crossland described the firm as "Norfolk's best-kept secret" - but its first appearance at the show illustrated a drive to boost its profile.
"I think we have been guilty of hiding away in the past," he said. "We have just grown naturally, but I think we have realised we need to go out there and shout a bit more about what we are doing.
