Dyson Farming's head of research will bring innovation insights to East Anglia
Richard Meredith, head of research at Dyson Farming, is the guest speaker at a farmers' evening, jointly hosted by the National Farmers' Union (NFU) and Norfolk-based accountancy firm Lovewell Blake on May 6.
He will outline how Sir James Dyson's vast farmland estate integrates experimentation, data, engineering and practical farming to "test ideas, challenge assumptions and deliver evidence‑led improvements".
He will also explain how rigorous research in real-world conditions can improve food production, sustainability and efficiency through a focus on "learning by doing" – implementing new ideas and technologies from regenerative systems and precision farming to robotics and artificial intelligence.
Mr Meredith leads the company's research and innovation programme and also manages Dyson Farming’s 1,000‑acre dedicated research farm, using it as a "real‑world testbed to trial new technologies, agronomic approaches, and farming systems at scale".
Lovewell Blake agricultural partner Ryan Lincoln, who will chair the event, said: “Farmers hear a lot about what scientists are achieving in research and development, but it can sometimes be difficult to make a link between that scientific discovery and practical applications on the farm itself.
“Richard’s focus on ‘learning by doing’ brings an engaging and accessible link between what is happening in the laboratory and the benefits it can bring in a practical way on the farm, and his presentation is sure to be thought-provoking and practical."
The event takes place at Halesworth Golf club from 7.15pm on May 6, followed by a buffet supper. Attendance is free, but places must be booked via www.lovewell-blake.co.uk/events.
