The new order introduced by Norfolk Police and Great Yarmouth Borough Council came into force today (April 1) to reduce anti-social behaviour and clear up communities in the borough.

Under the fresh Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), drinking alcohol in public, urinating in public, begging, spitting and riding bikes or e-scooters on paths could see offenders prosecuted, or at the very least, banned from the town centre for 12 hours.

Belongings left unattended in the borough could also be seized under the new PSPO rules.

It will replace previous PSPOs, which banned public alcohol drinking in the borough, and will be reviewed annually.
