Mother, 38, denied 'fighting chance' after doctors missed cancer diagnosis
An inquest into the death of Carla Smith, of the Hunstanton area, heard that she first saw doctors in January 2022 after becoming concerned about heavy vaginal bleeding.
She was originally put on contraception to help reduce the blood flow, believing she was suffering from heavy periods.
But by August 2022, the bleeding had increased and Ms Smith had began to experience pain alongside her symptoms.
As a result, Heacham Group Practice referred her for an ultrasound scan that showed an abnormal thickening of the womb - which the NHS say is rare for a woman of her age.
Dr Evgenia Clitheroe did not think the abnormality was cause for concern as Ms Smith was still having periods. Had the mother been menopausal, the doctor said she would have found the scan results more concerning.
