Shock as carnival allowed paedophile on trial to attend meetings and events

News that 78-year-old Clive Perrin had been charged with sex offences against a 14-year-old girl first came to light last August.

But it has now emerged that Sheringham Carnival Committee allowed the former trustee to continue attending meetings and events right up until his trial at Norwich Crown Court, which concluded last week.

Perrin was initially charged with sexually touching a child and sexual communication with a child and pleaded not guilty at his initial hearing at Norwich Magistrates' Court on August 21, 2024.

A year later, on August 14, it took the jury less than two hours to find Perrin guilty of sexual communication with a child. He was found not guilty of sexual activity with a child.

The trial heard he began messaging the girl in 2021, sending her a series of inappropriate and sexual messages.........
