Fears over future of lifeboat station grow as annual fundraising event is cancelled
The popular summer event, which raises money for the service and draws crowds to the seafront, will not go ahead this year due to ongoing structural problems at the station.
A post on Sheringham Lifeboat Station's Facebook page confirmed the decision, stating: “We’re very sorry to announce that there will be no Lifeboat Day in Sheringham this year due to the ongoing structural issues affecting our lifeboat station.
"We understand how much this event means to the local community and our supporters, and we share your disappointment.”
The RNLI shut the station in January due to fears surrounding the stability of the cliff behind the building.
In February, a structural survey of the lifeboat station building itself resulted in serious safety concerns.

At the time, the RNLI said: “Initial findings indicate that the lifeboat station building may be at the end of its lifespan."
Nearly six months on, the station remains closed and the RNLI has yet to confirm whether a lifeboat will operate from Sheringham at all this summer.
