Eastern Education Group (EEG) runs several schools and further education establishments throughout the East of England.

EEG integrates sustainability across education, engagement and community collaboration, using the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework.

By aligning initiatives with relevant SDGs, the group ensures that environmental responsibility is integrated strategically across the business and curriculum.

Students have an opportunity to explore real-world sustainability through live projects such as zero-waste events, biodiversity initiatives and eco-building workshops.

Beyond the classroom, initiatives such as Students Operating Sustainably (SOS), Green Futures Collaboration and Go Green Networking engage local schools, councils and businesses.

The judges were impressed with EEG’s “ambitious, action-focused sustainability programme that reaches learners from age 5 through to 75”.

They added: “Collaboration is central to the programme, bringing together students, staff, employers and community partners to deliver real, measurable change.”

Laura Poore from Eastern Education Group said: “This award is confirmation that the work we are doing is going in the right direction.

“The sustainability sector in East Anglia is everything. To be training the people who will be working in these roles and driving forward net zero in the future is really important.”

Groundwork East is an environmental charity working across the East of England.

The charity runs programmes to transform unloved green spaces, get people outside enjoying the natural world and supporting businesses to reduce their environmental impact.

The judges commended Groundwork East’s Climate Champions programme, which “works closely with end users to build confident, proactive responses to climate change”.

PECT – Climate Education

Developed by PECT, a Peterborough-based environmental charity, Climate Education is a comprehensive, one-stop ‘green hub’ that enables schools to take on their climate action journey.

The web-based platform provides ready-to use materials for teachers and empowers students to get hands-on with meaningful change.

The judges praised PECT for “delivering a highly accessible, user-centred approach to climate action in schools”.

East Coast Training Academy is located at East Coast College Lowestoft Campus. The academy supports a range of commercial training for the energy, engineering and wider sectors.

The college’s facilities are world-class, supporting sector needs as well as those seeking new career opportunities.

Courses can assist local and international delegates in developing skills and competency in areas such as offshore, emergency response, maritime, health and safety, renewable energy, leadership and engineering.
