E-International Relations is delighted to share with you a brand new incarnation of the website at e-ir.org.

You may have already been reading our material on the new website and getting the email digests as we have been cross/shadow posting here for quite a while. We have built the new website around social and sharing principles to allow our editors, authors and readers to comment/share and form a community. And we’re excited to see it grow. It can be viewed on the substack app, on any browser, and all posts will also be emailed to reader’s inboxes.

Why the change? The prior version of E-International Relations has been online since November 2007 and has published over 10,000 pieces of content in that time (nearly 20 years!). The old website was built on a heavily modified version of WordPress, an open-source content management system. In recent years our version of the platform has been getting unstable due to its age and technical limitations. Exacerbating our situation, we have experienced a wave of serious brute force and cyber attacks, partially because of our profile as a well known online publisher of diverse and often critical views that have made us a target of state and non-state groups. These attacks have never affected our editorial decisions and we always managed to clear them up without much fuss. However, we had to make a tough call and take the old website offline last week. So, while we had planned a more graceful migration to the new website, which is packing all the stability and security we need to stand us in good stead, we will have to do the switch a bit quicker. So, what we would like to communicate to you is the following:

Everything we have published this year (2026) is already on the new website, or is scheduled to go online in the coming week or so. The links will be different/new, old links will not work. We are really sorry about that. If you want to find something, search the title/author name on the new website. The search function is near instantaneous and you can find it on the top menu bar at the right side. At present, the new website design does not feature author profile pages, though authors........
