Trump FBI’s Search of Reporter’s Home Alarms Journalists
Journalists and press-freedom advocates condemned the extraordinary federal search of a Washington Post reporter’s home stemming from allegations from the Trump administration that she obtained classified information from a source.
FBI agents executed a search warrant at the home of Hannah Natanson as part of an investigation into Aurelio Perez-Lugones, a Maryland system administrator. According to the Post, the affidavit claimed that Perez-Lugones has been accused of using his top-secret security clearance to access classified intelligence reports and taking them home, with secret reports being discovered in his basement and even his lunch box.
NBC News reports that Perez-Lugones is a U.S. citizen and Navy veteran, and that he made his first court appearance last Friday in the U.S. District Court of Maryland.
