Noem. Bondi. Who’s Next?

For the better part of a year, President Donald Trump largely avoided the seemingly endless revolving door of staff firings, resignations, and reassignments that marked his first term. That changed in recent weeks when Trump made a pair of significant changes to his Cabinet: ousting embattled Homeland Security secretary Kristi Noem and, on Thursday, firing U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, whose leadership of the Justice Department had long met with Trump’s ire.

And the president may be far from done with his Cabinet shuffle. Reports suggest Trump is at least considering axing other top officials he’s not thrilled with. Here’s a look at who might be on the way out next.

The Atlantic reports that FBI director Kash Patel is among the top officials Trump is considering moving on from. A staunch Trump loyalist, Patel has fielded nonstop criticism that he is unqualified for the position since taking the lead of the agency last year.

Patel made himself the public face of the bungled search for the killer of Charlie Kirk, posting that the suspect had been caught and later having to retract his claim. He has been criticized for his strong focus on social media and faced allegations of misusing government resources, including claims that he gave his country-singer girlfriend a security detail and that he used his mandated government plane for personal trips. Patel, along with Bondi, were also recently named in a lawsuit put forward by three fired FBI agents who alleged they were let go as a result of political retribution.

In a statement to The Atlantic, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle called Patel “a patriot” and said he and other Cabinet officials are “tirelessly implementing the President’s agenda and achieving tremendous results for the American people.”
