Is the United States going to invade Greenland? Although Donald Trump has been talking openly about taking control of the world’s largest island since his first term, the idea of the U.S. seizing it by force seemed ridiculous, even for him.

But then on Saturday, Trump ordered the U.S. military to strike Caracas, kidnap Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and bring them to New York to face narco-terrorism charges. And before we’d even finished sorting out which international laws Trump violated in Venezuela, he warned Greenland may be next.

The first threat came in comments Trump made to The Atlantic hours after the Caracas raid, which were published early Sunday morning:

During our call, Trump, who had just arrived at his golf club in West Palm Beach, was in evident good spirits, and reaffirmed to me that Venezuela may not be the last........
