If you get your information from mainstream media or progressive political outlets, the recent debate over ICE tactics and mass-deportation policies during the second Trump administration is one-sided. Whipped on by quotas and undermined by haste and poor training, immigration enforcement agencies are constantly overreaching and providing horrifying social-media content to their many critics, it seems. More generally, the administration’s mass-deportation efforts appear to be going far beyond its claimed focus on “the worst of the worst.” There’s plenty of evidence that law-abiding immigrants who have been here for years are being targeted and treated abominably.

It’s understandable, then, that ICE’s overseers periodically give the impression that they’re working to rein in the masked agents. And even Republican politicians urge better deportation targeting as though the current politics just need some fine-tuning.

But it all looks different from MAGA-land, as evidenced by the backlash to the recent suspension of ICE vehicle stops after two fatal shootings. This infuriated many pro-Trump social-media influencers, reported the Daily Beast:
