Millions of households are bracing for another surge in energy bills this spring, following Ofgem's declaration of a new price cap. The price cap will see a 6.4% increase, although the exact amount you'll pay is contingent on your gas and electricity consumption.

To give you a rough idea, for every £100 spent on gas and electricity, this would rise to £106.40. The average dual fuel household paying by direct debit will witness their annual energy bill climb from £1,738 to £1,849 from April 1 - an uptick of £111 per year, or £9.25 per month.

This increase surpasses the £85 hike that industry experts Cornwall Insight had previously predicted. It also marks the third recent spike in energy bills, following a 10% rise in October........
