'Where is this money going?' Questions as Council confirms overspend

Coventry City Council has been hit with a £200k overspend on last year's Godiva festival, citing rising costs and a lack of income as the main culprits. The financial shortfall was confirmed following inquiries by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS). Coventry Live readers are unimpressed with the council's response.

The issue has prompted calls for the council to "get a grip" on its finances. Cllr Gary Ridley (Woodlands, Con), leader of the opposition, highlighted that the council-run music festival has been in the red "for some considerable years now." He raised concerns over "falling sales" and spiralling costs, seeking assurances for the future.
