"Get the bus!" Parents told as Coventry schools clampdown sees warnings and fines
Parents have been handed a over a staggering 3,000 warning notices for flouting parking rules outside schools as part of a Coventry City Council trial scheme. Since the scheme's start in September 2024, 3,500 warning notices have been given to drivers who disregarded the traffic restrictions during the School Street trials. Coventry Live readers are mainly pleased to see that something is being done about dangerous parking.
The 18-month pilot is striving to raise road safety and air cleanliness on the school run by steering traffic and travel policies. Funded by the local council, the scheme targets to ease traffic jams and increase safety by setting no-go zones for cars along roads bordering primary schools at busy drop-off and pick-up times.
However, drivers with permits, bikes, emergency service vehicles, maintenance trucks, and school coaches will not be affected. The council will however,........
