Newcastle United's crest is much more than a club emblem - just ask those who got a tattoo
Since the Premier League kicked off on Tyneside there has been plenty of change at Newcastle United - some of it roared on by supporters, some of it unwelcome.
Players change, managers change, sponsors change, stadiums change and sadly legends come and go. But the one constant at Newcastle has been the club crest during what became a shiny new era back in 1993 when the Magpies hit the big time under Kevin Keegan.
A club crest is arguably the first genuine connection between supporter and club. For lads like me, the love affair with Newcastle began around the same time as Kevin Keegan as a player - but the club crest felt like the start.
What is just as much of a striking memory as Keegan is the day a packet of Panini stickers were torn open on a field at Shiremoor First School and the club's circular round crested NUFC badge with a Magpie in the middle appeared for one lucky........
