Quarterback Rankings: Who is the top pivot in the CFL?
Quarterback Rankings is a bi-weekly series that breaks down the top signal-callers in the CFL. The ranking of starters heading into each week reflects recent performance, statistical indicators, team success, and overall on-field evaluation.
We did it everyone, we made it through the off-season and the CFL rewarded our patience with an excellent start to 2026.
Davis Alexander outduelled Bo Levi Mitchell late for an Alouettes three-point overtime win. Zach Collaros and company ruined an incredible 104-yard touchdown drive by Vernon Adams Jr. in a two-point win for the Bombers. Meanwhile, when life gives you a heavy does of rain, give back an even heavier dose of Justin Rankin as Edmonton did in their one-score win over Ottawa. The game is back which also means my bi-weekly quarterback rankings are as well.
Some quick ground rules for my rating “system.” Last years’ results are a bigger factor early on, but as we get deeper into this year, the rankings will be weighted on what we are currently seeing on the field. I try my best to not ding quarterbacks for deflected interceptions just as I do not reward 80-yard touchdown passes that started as a simple check down and then became 75 yards of athletic wizardry by the receiver. This is part statistics, part eye test, part science with a heavy dose of emotion.
