One of our human foibles is that too often we see things that we have never seen before and then misjudge them as something new. In reality there is very little, if anything, new when it comes to human behavior. At my church between Sunday services we have an adult Bible study. We are currently studying the book of Romans. As we were reading the passages below, I was shocked when I recognized that I could assign a label to the modern day version of the people being discussed in the first chapter of Romans 1:24-32 ESV
In my humble opinion, the woke freak show that the anti-American Socialist Democrat Party has been advocating for the last few years is an almost exact repeat of what the Romans did 2,000 years ago that destroyed their culture and empire. Are we, as a people and culture, really that stupid? It would seem so.
"This [the U.S. Constitution] is likely to be administered for a course of years and then end in despotism... when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other." ~ Benjamin Franklin
"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." ~ Benjamin Franklin
At the founding, Benjamin Franklin voiced concern whether we could keep the democratic representative republic that was just formed. With the evil, corruption, and debauchery that exist in America today, his concerns were well founded.
After a 55 year career as a professional pilot in the military, in law enforcement, in the private sector, and in federal civil service, I am now retired.
In many of these positions I repeatedly took an oath to defend the United States Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.
