Two new villages planned in flood area as locals ask will they 'build the houses on stilts?'
Cambridgeshire could see the addition of two new villages, potentially bringing 4,000 new homes to the region. The proposal comes from a partnership between Endurance Estates and Markham & George, collectively known as Moats Way Ltd, who have put forth plans for The Lattenburys in Huntingdonshire. Cambridgeshire Live readers are concerned about the possibility of flooding in the local area.
The vision is for two interconnected villages situated to the east of Godmanchester and south of the Hemingfords. Despite being separate areas, they're intended to foster "one community with a shared sense and pride of place that will sit sensitively in the local landscape", as per The Lattenburys' website.
The plan includes the possibility of up to 4,000 new homes including affordable housing options. These will be complemented by a variety of local amenities such as shops, community spaces, workspaces, and sports and recreation facilities.
