2026 Argentina Open: Berrettini pushes past fan-favorite Coria

Day two of the 2026 Argentina Open saw five Argentines and a slew of international stars take the court. Among them was Italian Matteo Berrettini (ATP singles ranked 58), arguably the biggest star to feature so far in the tournament. 

The 2021 Wimbledon finalist got off to a winning start in the night shift, despite having to fight tooth and nail to beat wild card Federico Coria (322) by 7-5, 7-5.

Brother to former world No. 3 Guillermo, Coria has developed a cult following after becoming a successful streamer and vlogger focused on showing the sport’s behind-the-scenes. This was Coria’s first game in five months after undergoing surgery for a serious elbow injury in August 2025.

The match proved a hard-fought affair. Berrettini himself was struggling with fitness, having missed the Australian Open due to an undisclosed injury. His inconsistent shot-making made for a clash of styles with Coria’s never-say-never defense, forcing the Italian to go all the way to the last game in order to wrap the first........
