Online sports betting giants face scrutiny over growing influence in state elections
The rapid expansion of online sports betting across the United States has transformed a once-limited industry into a multibillion-dollar business with significant political influence. As legalized gambling spreads from state to state, major sportsbook operators are increasingly becoming active participants in state-level politics. Their growing campaign contributions, lobbying efforts, and support for political action committees (PACs) have sparked debate over whether corporate interests are gaining disproportionate influence over public policy.
