PEI introducing up to 27 weeks of job-protected unpaid medical leave, increasing unpaid sick leave
Prince Edward Island is introducing several legislative changes that increase unpaid job-protected leave for employees in the province.
The amendments to the provincial Employment Standards Act, which took effect June 30, include the introduction of up to 27 weeks of job-protected unpaid medical leave for employees who are treating or recovering from an illness or injury, making an organ or tissue donation or are receiving gender-affirming care.
