Caisse investing in Australian agriculture opportunity, Ontario Teachers’ selling stake in electricity operator
The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is partnering with Australia-based agricultural investment manager GO.FARM to invest in permanent horticulture in Australia.
The partnership will begin with a AU$330 million available to invest in the market. As part of the transaction, the Caisse will become a minority shareholder in GO.FARM.
“Australia combines world-class agricultural resources, strong export markets and significant land transformation opportunities,” said Emmanuel Jaclot, executive vice-president and head of infrastructure and sustainability at the Caisse, in a press release. “Through this partnership with GO.FARM, we are backing a proven operator with deep local expertise and a strong commitment to responsible agriculture.”

In other news, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is selling its 40 per cent stake in Finland-based electricity distribution firm Caruna in a transaction that values the firm at about €5 billion.
