Mustering the will to keep going

Monday was the first day in I don't know how long that you could step outside without feeling like you were walking into a convection oven preheated to about 450 degrees in order to bake you like a loaf of sourdough bread. Which worked out well for me because my daughter Stella had a golf match.

She shamed me for not going to watch the week before, when she had another one and I declined the opportunity to be baked alive, even though other obviously better parents were watching their little linksmen and women.

I picked up my mother to go with me. She had food she made for my dad's friend Bob, who is in his 90s, and still drives and farms. My dad used to visit him every Sunday night and take whatever we had for Sunday lunch for Bob to eat for supper. Bob's beloved wife Lucy died several years ago. We met them when I lived in the parsonage of Webb City Baptist Church and my daughter Grace and son Harper drove the Barbie Jeep over to their house to visit. Lucy usually had candy. We also trick-or-treated them every year and caroled them at Christmas.

Bob's door was open, but he was nowhere to be found. So I put the food in his kitchen. Then I proceeded to the post office where I go every day now that I am the Vinted champion of the world. That means I am cleaning out my closet and selling stuff on an app called Vinted, which my girls say is like depop but for old people. I think of it as an online garage sale. You upload........
