While the capital region has a combined population of close to 1.5 million, the 1.1 million Edmonton taxpayers are covering the region’s costs.

Michael Janz: Let's build rec centres, libraries and pools instead of new roads Later this year, city council will wrestle with setting the city’s budget for the next four years. I urge my fellow city councillors to consider a paraphrased version of the 1988 campaign pledge from none other than President George H.W. Bush: “Read my lips: no new roads.”
