Democrats suddenly see the light on trans athletes in women’s sports

Trans athletes, trans teenagers — look out for that bus, because a bunch of prominent Democrats are ready to throw you under it.

It started shortly after the election, when Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton told the New York Times: “Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face. I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”

Moulton faced protests for a while, but the issue appeared to die down — until late last month, when former Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel appeared on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher.” Emanuel, who is apparently gearing up to run for president, told Maher: “Look, in seventh grade, if I had known that I could have said the word ‘they’ and got in the girls’ bathroom, I would have done it. … I don’t want to hear another word about the bathroom until you tell me what you’re going to do with the classroom.” (Emanuel is a Post Opinions contributor.)

Then, on March 6, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, launching his new podcast, interviewed prominent conservative Charlie Kirk. The talk turned to transgender issues, and Kirk asked, “Would you say no men in female sports?” Newsom replied, “Well, I think it’s an issue of fairness.” Then Kirk asked if Newsom would “speak out against” AB........
