Americans are on the verge of losing SNAP. Our 'leaders' are failing.
I love America, and I think President Donald Trump has been an efficient, effective leader, making incredible changes at warp speed.
But that doesn't mean everything is working as it should.
The government shutdown is now entering its 28th day, nearing a record. I don't know about you, but I'm really starting to wonder: Where are the grown-ups I know we elected?
I know there are reasons Congress is at an impasse, and plenty of them are good ones. But enough is enough. I'm over it, and so are the majority of Americans, mainly because it's now going to have some very real consequences for people in need.
By the end of the week, the shutdown will no longer affect only federal employees but also as many as 42 million people on SNAP. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is the largest food aid program in the nation. It will also affect the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for © USA TODAY
