Democrats are falling for Trump's 'invasion' trap. It's all for show.

President Donald Trump announced on Sept. 2 that federal law enforcement resources and the National Guard would be deployed to Chicago for the purpose of combating crime. 

The Democratic response has been one of panic, with warnings of authoritarianism becoming widespread among elected Democrats. 

While I question the process and effectiveness of Trump’s actions, a Democratic panic is exactly the overreaction that Trump is hoping for. Democrats should treat Trump’s actions as an optics play, rather than the end of democracy. 

Trump pushing the needle further and further with these interventions does worry me, but let's not pretend he is staging a coup within America's major cities.
