Nicky Puddicombe, the axe killer at the centre of a messy love triangle that ended with her boyfriend dead and her girlfriend charged and acquitted of murder, has found romance again.

At her faint hope hearing, where the lifer is trying to convince a jury that she should be able to apply for early parole, court has heard Puddicombe fell for a fellow inmate at Grand Valley Prison for Women in September 2022 and they were allowed to move in together.

But when she was being moved from a medium unit to minimum in 2023, Puddicombe balked because she didn’t want to leave her girlfriend behind.

Now wasn’t that a red flag, another sign that she’ll still do anything for love, even to her own detriment?

Being grilled on that point was clinical and forensic psychologist Daniel Pillersdorf, who reviewed Puddicombe’s file in 2023 and concluded she’s a “low risk” to reoffend generally and “low risk” to reoffend violently.
