What other Capital Region school zones need speed cameras?

In its first 10 days of operation last year, Albany’s school zone camera system issued nearly 13,000 tickets to drivers going more than 10 mph over the speed limit. And that’s after 30 days of issuing warnings — and with only eight camera zones switched on.
Capital Region drivers don’t — how to put this? — well, we don’t always embody our best selves when we’re behind the wheel. We run reds. We drive too fast. And since the pandemic, speeding has increased. Traffic fatalities are up, too.
