Editorial: The wrong way to treat friends

Editor's note: As this editorial was going to press, the White House announced that Vice President JD Vance and his wife, along with National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, would be visiting Pituffik Space Base, an American base above the Arctic Circle. Usha Vance and Mr. Waltz have scrapped their initial itinerary, which included attendance at a dogsled race.
If all goes according to plan, second lady Usha Vance and Michael Waltz, the U.S. national security adviser, will arrive Thursday in Greenland on a four-day trip.

Greenland is an unusual tourist destination, particularly in March, but Ms. Vance and Mr. Waltz aren't really going to see the sights. They're traveling to Greenland as part of President Donald J. Trump's push to make the autonomous Danish territory part of the United States.
