Editorial: The saga of 1211 Western Avenue is an ongoing mess

The Central Warehouse north of downtown Albany has long been the undisputed king of Capital Region eyesores, and, with a lawsuit stalling its demolition, the building still holds the crown. But a six-story building at 1211 Western Ave. is making a strong case for consideration.
By now, the building known as Air Albany was supposed to be housing students from the nearby state University at Albany in 137 apartments built above ground-level stores. But the building has been beset by problem after problem, leaving the unfinished project a blight on the city's western landscape. Neighbors are rightly frustrated.
