Editorial: The arrest of Mahmoud Khalil is an attack on free speech

Last month, Vice President JD Vance traveled to the Munich Security Conference and upbraided European leaders for crackdowns and limitations on free speech.
Among other examples, Mr. Vance remarked on the case of Adam Smith-Connor, a 51-year-old physiotherapist and military veteran arrested by British authorities for silently praying within 150 meters of an abortion clinic. Such oversteps, Mr. Vance argued, were illiberal attacks on the values that democratic nations are supposed to uphold.
