Americans looking for good news in this nation’s recent change in posture regarding Ukraine will have to take cold comfort from the fact that, at least as of this writing, President Donald J. Trump hasn’t told Vladimir Putin that he deserves complete control of the beleaguered nation three years into Russia’s bloody attempted invasion.
To the contrary, when asked Thursday to name a concession Russia was willing to make to achieve peace in the region, Mr. Trump offered just one: “Stopping the war, stopping taking the whole country — pretty big concession.”
