Editorial: In pursuit of safer police chases

Police officers make split-second decisions every day, weighing risks to bystanders and their own safety against the risks created by someone’s reckless or criminal behavior. When data indicates a need to take a second look at how those decisions are made, it’s worth considering new training or a different policy.
That’s what state Attorney General Letitia James is calling for with a proposal to cut back on high-speed police chases.
