Editorial: George Santos is free — who's next on Trump's list?

Five months after he was expelled from Congress, former U.S. Rep. George Santos pleaded guilty in April to taking part in fraud schemes so numerous that the news release from the Department of Justice required subheadings to explain all five.
As part of his plea agreement, Mr. Santos acknowledged falsifying campaign donor information in order to slurp up federal funds intended for use by candidates who met certain fundraising requirements — requirements that he had not come close to meeting. He stole the identity of actual donors to his campaign for the purpose of using their credit cards to make purchases and donate to other campaigns in a scheme that targeted “elderly persons suffering from cognitive impairment or decline,” prosecutors noted. He bilked campaign donors by assuring them their funds would support a TV ad buy, then arranged for the money to be siphoned into his........
