Editorial: Courts must uphold New York’s Climate Superfund Act
21 states full of greenhouse gas polluters sue New York over its latest climate change-related policy.
It is, to put it mildly, disappointing that 21 states have sued to block New York’s Climate Change Superfund Act.
This hard-won legislation, signed into law by Gov. Kathy Hochul in December, promises to do more to clean up New York’s climate than most other climate change-related policy initiatives in recent years.

The act creates the Climate Change Adaptation Cost Recovery Program that will fund New York-based projects that add to the state’s resiliency to the tune of $75 billion paid by those industries most responsible for the pollution.
