Commentary: This simple change would make acupuncture accessible to more New Yorkers

Equitable access to quality health care should be a fundamental right. For many across New York, however, acupuncture care is restricted. While some may have health insurance policies that provide minimal coverage, the vast majority who seek this age-old, invaluable form of treatment must pay for it themselves.
Legislators in Albany have an opportunity to remedy this inequity by designating acupuncture an “essential health benefit.” This will ensure that anyone who needs to receive acupuncture can do so, regardless of their health insurance carrier.
