Commentary: Foreign students enrich America's colleges educationally and culturally. Why give that up?

I am the perfect example of the advantages of welcoming foreign students.
I grew up in Delmar and attended Union College. In 1971 I traveled to Vienna, Austria, with a class of Union students for a trimester. My friend Chris and I stayed with a Viennese family, attending class near the famous St. Stephen’s Cathedral and interacting with the Viennese in one of the great cities of the world. That fall, I started a year abroad as an exchange student at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland.
