23-year-old wins Epson Tour's Casella Golf Championship at Pinehaven
Briana Chacon hopped off the rollercoaster and used cruise control on Sunday to win the Casella Golf Championship at Pinehaven in Guilderland. The Californian carded a 67 to finish 9-under and earn her second Epson Tour win of the season and her third tour win overall.
Chacon shared the lead with Cynthia Lu of Taipei and fellow Californian Camille Boyd at 5-under going into Sunday. The 23-year-old Chacon emerged from the pack as the latest champion at Pinehaven, finishing with just one bogey with five birdies. Her three day totals of 69-68-67 (204) earned the tour sophomore a $30,000 payday.

Sunday’s round was in sharp contrast to her up-and-down low-scoring performance on Saturday that included seven birdies and four bogies.
“Honestly just all day I just was pretty steady out there,” she said about Sunday’s round. “I didn’t make too many mistakes, which is what I think really set me apart from the field.
