Here’s a different perspective on Remembrance Day from a first-generation Canadian.
Both my parents experienced the Second World War first-hand.
My Polish dad lived in the part of Poland that was invaded by the Soviets in 1939. His mother and his sister were taken to the Siberian gulags, and he never saw them again.
Many other family members vanished as well. He subsequently escaped Europe to join the Free Polish Army under the British military.
In Narvik, Norway was shot through one........
