I read with interest the Nov. 20 letter from former View Royal mayor David Screech, “Public in dark about new RCMP building.”

The cynic in me can’t help but note it surfaced just a week after the former mayor openly mulled about “considering” a run for the mayoral chair.

When weighing his criticism, it’s helpful to consider his track record, especially where his actions may conflict with the notion that community input was underprioritized.

During Screech’s time as mayor, there was controversy over View Royal’s Official Community Plan update. As reported by the Times Colonist, it was suggested in View Royal that Screech was trying to “push the plan through without public debate.”
