Comment: Mark Carney understands how to expand the economy and rekindle prosperity
A commentary by a former NDP premier of B.C.
Former B.C. premier Gordon Campbell wrote an op-ed last week that was highly critical of Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Frankly, I found the piece to be hysterical, untrue and unfair.
His first point was all three: He said Carney would continue “more of the same” Justin Trudeau Liberal approaches.
That’s untrue.
If Campbell bothered to listen, he would see immediately that Carney is quite a different leader, with his own agenda — one that won him almost 90 per cent support at the Liberal leadership convention.
Plus, unlike either Trudeau or Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, Carney has extensive economic and business experience, backed up by a PhD in economics from Oxford.
He was in New York for 12 years in the financial industry. He was the governor the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England. He was associate deputy........
