Comment: After spending $90,000 where are the trees?

A commentary by a resident of North Saanich.

Who doesn’t like the idea of a bylaw that protects the trees in our neighbourhoods that provide a shade canopy in summer and suck up all that carbon dioxide?

Sounds like a good idea if it’s implemented carefully.

With Saanich about to review its tree protection bylaw, I thought it would be useful to have a look at how the current bylaw is working for builders.

I applied to Saanich to create a one-lot subdivision that had three boulevard trees and two more trees in the intended ­building envelope.

The boulevard trees were too close to the road, and........
