Father of hostage Sudthisak Rinthalak: ‘I always worry about him, I pray for him’
The family of Sudthisak Rinthalak, one of the two remaining hostages whose bodies are held in the Gaza Strip, spoke Wednesday about the long wait for the return of their son and brother, during a brief interview recorded by Army Radio.
The interview came as the Prime Minister’s Office said that the remains handed back by Hamas on Tuesday were not those of Rinthalak or Israeli police officer Master Sgt. Ran Gvili, and that their families had been informed.
A short time later, Palestinian terror groups said they would hand over the body of a hostage later on Wednesday.
Rinthalak came from the town of Ratnawee in northern Thailand.
Speaking in Thai via a translator, Rinthalak’s father, Thong Ma, said he feels sad that he hasn’t received his son’s body.
“I feel I always worry about him, I pray for him,” said Thong Ma.
Rinthalak’s mother, Orn, is deaf, but was present as the interview was conducted.
His brother, Thepporn, told Army Radio that he pushed his brother to go work in Israel eight years earlier, when Rinthalak was 35 years old and had just gotten divorced.
“I feel guilty, but I wanted him to find himself there,” said Thepporn, and recalled that Sudthisak hoped to find a wife while in Israel.
